The ATOA CMUT TECHNOLOGY

About ATOA

ATOA stands for Atom to Application. ATOA is a Bangalore, India-based group of companies with a vision to proliferate engineering for all. ATOA offers Multiphysics CAE services, Engineering Apps and 3D printing through ATOA Scientific Technologies PVT LTD, ATOA Software Technologies and ATOA Smart Technologies, respectively.

ATOA Scientific Technologies is a COMSOL Certified Consultant. Providing high quality service to their clients has led ATOA to the top the list of “25 Most Promising Project Management & Engineering Consultants in India” in a recent survey carried out by the Consultants Review magazine

ATOA has partnered with Vectis to negotiate and implement technology transfer agreements to foster the adoption of ATOA’s CMUT technology

ATOA’s CMUT Solution

Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers “CMUTs” are miniaturized devices (having size below 1 millimeter) capable to transmit and receive acoustic signals through a capacitive transducer.

ATOA has developed a CMUT solution that provides for a new and robust operational mode that overcomes the limitations of the state of the art. This solution is applicable to a number of various use cases, including but not limited to:

-        High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for medical diagnosis and therapy

-        Medical imaging (e.g. Intravascular ultrasound or Intravascular echocardiography)

-        Sensors (e.g. “VOC” Volatile Organic Compounds sensors)

ATOA’s multiphysics simulation evaluates several aspects of the CMUT transducer like the typical capacitor’s capacitance, natural frequency of the basic unit, static DC operation performance, dynamic operation performance of DC bias plus AC signal, and acoustic characteristics of transducer arrays.

More information on multiphysics simulations of CMUT can be found on ATOA’s CMUT Blog.

Advantages of ATOA’s CMUT Solution

ATOA’s CMUT virtual prototypes deliver exceptional performance by using novel, simple and robust multilayer and multifunctional configurations. ATOA’s CMUT virtual prototypes show over other existing devices:

-        An improvement of up to 200x for Electromagnetic Force

-        An improvement of up to 87x for Sound Pressure

-        Low operational and bias voltage in the range of 5 – 10 Volts
