WI-FI LICENSING PROGRAM
Wi-Fi is the name of a widely used wireless networking technology which provides wireless connectivity for fixed, portable, and moving devices within a local area. The term Wi-Fi capable product refers to any product based on the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.11 Standard and its developments. Wi-Fi technology incorporates the technical teachings of patents developed by industry leaders in the telecommunication sector. Such innovators have then declared many of those patents essential to the 802.11 Standard before the IEEE Standard Association making them available to all implementers on fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory terms. The Wi-Fi patent portfolio licensed by Vectis includes patents originally filed by Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson and Panasonic Corporation and now owned by Wi-Fi One, LLC.
Vectis has been granted a right to grant worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty bearing sublicenses under such Wi-Fi patent portfolio. Vectis offers a license under the core patents of such Wi-Fi patent portfolio that are essential to and cover several revisions of the IEEE 802.11 Standard and its amendments. Therefore, any product implementing Wi-Fi technology conforms to IEEE 802.11 Standard and as such requires a license under the Wi-Fi essential patents licensed by Vectis. An exemplary list of Wi-Fi products includes wireless access points, WLAN routers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and any other Wi-Fi enabled products, such as still cameras, set-top boxes, smart TVs, car systems, printers, and speakers. Vectis also offers to any third parties an option to take a license under the Wi-Fi implementation patents included in its Wi-Fi patent portfolio.
Vectis Wi-Fi Licensing Program: 802.11 Standard
Below is the list of relevant revisions and amendments of the 802.11 Standard:
- IEEE Std 802.11 – 2007 (including the Amendments IEEE Std. 802.11a/b/d/e/g/h/i/j)
- IEEE Std 802.11 ‐ 2012 (including the Amendments IEEE Std. 802.11k/n/p/r/s/u/v/w/y/z)
- IEEE Std 802.11ac – 2013
- IEEE Std 802.11ad – 2012
Vectis Wi-Fi Licensing Program: Royalty Rates
Vectis offers a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty bearing license to third parties under the Wi-Fi essential patents on fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms.
Vectis also offers to any such third parties an option to take a license under the Wi-Fi implementation patents.
The royalty rate per end user 802.11 capable product for the Wi-Fi patents licensed by Vectis is as follows:
|Wi-Fi patents licensable by Vectis as of August 1, 2015||Royalty Rate|
|For all essential patents||US $ 0.17 per device|
|For all implementation patents||US $ 0.075 per device|
Upon request, we are glad to provide a complete set of terms and conditions of the Wi-Fi license as well as a copy of our standard Wi-Fi License Agreement.

Vectis is committed to make IP licensing more sustainable for the industry. As such, we do our best to reduce the fragmentation of patents rights in the market and we strongly believe that aggregation benefits both the innovators and the implementers.
If you believe to have patents related to IEEE 802.11 Standards and its developments we invite you to contact us to learn how to join our Wi-Fi Licensing Program at firstname.lastname@example.org.
ANTENNA LICENSING PROGRAM
Vectis has teamed with Fractus S.A. in order to provide the Vectis Antenna Licensing Program for finished consumer products. Fractus S.A. is a Spanish company that was an early pioneer in the development of internal antennas for smartphones, tablets and wireless Internet devices. Fractus was named a 2005 Davos World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer and has been recognized by the European Patent Office for its award winning inventions. Fractus has also sold over 30 million antennas covered by its patents and has accrued a proven track record of antenna product innovation. In addition, Fractus has successfully licensed its award-winning geometry-based antenna technology to wireless device and equipment manufacturers in the USA, Europe and Asia. In part, the Antenna Patents reflect Fractus’ pioneering developments in antenna technology for wireless communications.
More information about Fractus can be found at www.fractus.com.
The Antenna Patents licensed by Vectis relate to technology developed by Fractus, which allows modern wireless devices to have small, multiband internal antennas. From its academic beginnings in the research laboratories of the Catalonian Polytechnic University (UPC) in the late 1980s, Fractus has led the world in the research and development of antenna technology. Innovation milestones achieved by the Fractus R&D team include the first worldwide antenna patents applied to the essential design features of geometry-based multi-band and miniature antennas. Fractus’ proprietary technology is valuable to companies in the wireless space, and the value has been recognized with awards, public recognition and many licenses throughout the World.
Any product implementing small, multiband internal antennas potentially requires a license under the Antenna Patents licensed by Vectis. An exemplary list of Antenna Products includes smartphones, multiband feature phones, laptops or other consumer products having integrated wireless antennas.
Vectis Antenna Licensing Program: Royalty Rates
Vectis offers a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-bearing license to the Antenna patents with terms that are believed to be fair to the market.
The royalty rate per finished consumer product incorporating an antenna using Fractus’ proprietary patented technology (“Antenna Product”) for the Antenna Patents licensed by Vectis is as follows:
–US$ 0.60 per Antenna Product disposed of in the United States; and
-US$ 0.25 per Antenna Product disposed of in countries other than the United States.
-US$ 0.20 per Antenna Product disposed of in the United States; and
-US$ 0.08 per Antenna Product disposed of in countries other than the United States.
The alternative rate applies to companies that enter into a license agreement without an admission or findings of liability in respect to the Antenna Products.
Upon request, we are glad to provide a complete set of terms and conditions of the Antenna license as well as a copy of our standard Antenna License Agreement.
Vectis Antenna Licensing Program: Fractus Patent Portfolio
